More about the LEAD Programme...

Institute of Directors (IoD)

We offer courses aimed at company directors, taught at the University of Salford and led by specialists in their field, with the company director's perspective in mind. Course leaders, including both University lecturers and specialist outside consultants, are used to operating at board level, often on a consultancy basis. The programme's emphasis is very practical and company focused.

  • Courses are strongly interactive, and allow delegates to apply the material to their own company situation.
  • Directors are encouraged to take a more objective look at their companies, to challenge established practices and question current strategies.

Continuing Professional Development Programmes

Salford Business School also offers a wide range of continuing professional development programmes for individuals looking to develop their skills and further their career. Available programmes include Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) examination preparation sessions, as well as courses in Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP). In partnership with AQA and City & Guilds, we are delivering training to Schools in the North West to assist with the delivery of the IT Diploma.

Customised In-Company Programmes

In developing our programmes we spend considerable time and effort in understanding the needs of both the organisation and individual participants. We design programmes in partnership with organisations, and use a responsive and flexible support team alongside experienced professionals in the delivery. Depending on training needs, we can provide coaching, facilitation and blended learning approaches. As learning and development are critical to organisational development, many of our programmes can be offered in-company. These customised programmes offer the additional advantage of meeting the specific needs of a client group and can be used as a way of supporting the overall aims and objectives of individual organisations.

KTPs are collaborations between academics, companies that need their expertise and graduates recruited to work on projects central to the needs of the business. Together, they devise and manage a 12-36 month project, which is of strategic importance to the company, is intellectually challenging and is of business relevance to the academic. We have a number of KTPs currently in existence including those with the Co-operative UK and Valves Instruments.
