Write Your Own Proposal

You can, of course, still follow the more traditional path of writing your own proposal for a topic of your choice.

The research proposal is a crucial part of your application; we would advise you to discuss this proposal with the Director of Postgraduate Research Programmes, Professor Phil Scarf, to make sure you understand what is expected in your subject area.

Split-site PhDs

Split-site (or 'joint location') PhDs take place between Salford and an approved university (usually in the researcher's home country). This is a full time programme, during which the student should spend the equivalent of one year at Salford. The rest of the research takes place at a local university. The splite-site student has a supervisor at Salford, and an adviser at his/her local university.
