I am the co-ordinator of placements in the Salford Business School: http://www.business.salford.ac.uk/programmes/placements/. This involves undergraduate students taking part in one year paid ‘sandwich’ placements between the second and final year of their programme, and postgraduates going on placement after the successful completion of the taught part of their programme. In this capacity I have led the accreditation of the University of Salford as a City and Guilds delegate authority and have also established the opportunity for MSc students to undertake professional placements, commencing in 2009. From 2010-2013 I am managing the University of Salford contribution to the 'Unite with Business' project, which will provide assistance to over 1,200 SMEs in the North West and is the largest project of it's type in the UK: http://www.unitewithbusiness.co.uk/. My main teaching is in Project Management. This includes a substantial role in the MSc in Project Management and work on the MSc in Media Management which will be delivered at Media City. I have been nominated twice by the University of Salford for the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme. My research interests lie in the practice of teaching and learning and I am a member of the Information Systems, Organisations and Society Research Centre. I am co-chair for the Education in a Changing Environment Conference: www.ece.salford.ac.uk. The 6th conference will be held on 6-8 July 2011. I have published in areas for which I have had responsibility, including the work of Graduate Teaching Assistants, the development of e-learning and especially blended learning, the use of Virtual Learning Environments to support placement students and the issue of plagiarism in student work. I currently supervise 3 PhD students. I have managed a number of successful funded projects including 3 European Social Fund projects (total value approx. £500k) to provide 'Flexible IT' to people from the North West. I am a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of the Association for Project Management. I have worked at Salford since 1991 with a one year gap in 1999-2000 based at the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand.
