Dr. Jonathan Parke is a senior lecturer in Gambling Studies at the Centre for the Study of Gambling, University of Salford. His main areas of expertise include internet gambling, poker behaviour, social responsibility and electronic gaming machines. He recently led on the largest ever academic research study into online poker and casino gambling, a study commissioned by eCOGRA. Jonathan has also been prominent in the development of the UK's first ever education programme for counsellors in the area of problem gambling. Jonathan also delivers training on the psychology of gambling and social responsibility to various stakeholders in the area of gambling and acts in a consultant capacity in legal cases, to regulators and various sectors of the gambling industry.

Teaching
I have taught gambling studies in higher education for eight years. I have seven years of
supervisory experience of gambling research projects including both undergraduate and post-graduateresearch. At the University of Salford, I am co-ordinator for the gambling studies programmes including the short programmes such as the GamCare programme 'Professional Development in Gambling' and the modules for the Gambling and Leisure Management Programmes. The GamCare programme was launched this year, and was aimed at developing skills and knowledge for therapists and helpline staff in all areas of gambling studies including psychology, public policy, technology, addiction and treatment. I also deliver bespoke training sessions in gambling behaviour with particular reference to slot machine play, social responsibility and internet gambling.
